General Note:
The ninth Census of the Bahama Islands was taken on the night of the 2nd April 1911 in accordance with the provisions of the Census Act 1910. The estimated population of the colony based on a calculation by the Registrar of Records of excess births over deaths from the 1st January to the 2nd April of this year was 175, making the estimated population on census day to be 62,124 or 8389 more than the population ascertained at the Census of 1901. The present census shows an actual increase however, of only 2,209 leaving 6,180 persons to be accounted for.
