Dear Sir;I understand the colored folks are still trying to raise
money for a nine months term in both Elementary and High
School. I think it is absurd to ask people to run the
school nine months w money and labor are as scare-.as
they are at present* You should consider yourself very
fortunate if you raise the money for eight months* 7or the
above reason I am instructing you to close the elementary
school immediately9 You still lack more than $500.00 of

pupils in- the High School are going to pay the necessary

conduct your examinations and close your High School at once
I understand that a number of the white people have gladly donated to your school. At the same time they will resent
the Proposition when they realize *hat the white elementary
school is running only eight months and the colored people ar e undertakingg to run nine months. Were there is so much excitesment among the pupils, so many different eitertainments, being
put on to raise money the school will accomplish but little
any way. It will help very few people but the teachers and they
can do something else for support during the summer*
Yours very truly,
E. R. Sinamous,
Supt.* Public Instruction
