Have you wondered how map-makers felt in desperate attempt to survey,
calculate-to deceive the innocent public about the true shape of the earth? To trek areas
once unreachable by human eyes-lands untrodden, oceans not voyaged, grasses not
smelled and fruit untasted? Who could even hope to account for the shape of the earth on
a two-dimensional surface-losing the delicate structure, the curvature of the globe itself,
the gently folding landscapes, the deep crevices that conceal our ancestor's bones...

P perhaps it's an art unto itself-
the art of drawing lines and imagining spaces.
finding lies and practicing deception in your careful
constructs of details or lack thereof.

Perhaps there is no truth in the lines we draw in
constant transit, believing that we understand and
are able to map our own place, there is a ruse in
our own methods of exploration, of discovery, and
hence, understanding.

Perhaps it's extended, far beyond my grasp, that I
cannot reach it's long, ethereal tendrils to pull it
back to earth.

But I am here, unapologetic

still ?

To think there is no truth in the lines we

draw in constant transit, believing that we

understand and are able to map our own

place. There is a ruse in our own methods

of exploration, of discovery, and hence,

understanding. Our gaze may swiftly

extend to the places we've yet to travel, yet

lingers still on where we've been and what

P4 we've done. My own gaze lingers on the

maps I've created for myself my very own

lies and deceits of lines and symbols. I linger

over the lines, the curves, the dots that

describe rivers and trees and mountains

and the ink stains that represent a face I

once knew, and one that vanished far too

quickly

I hope that when you go,

I hope I'm able to smile, feeling a
sense of fulfillment

I hope in several years when all of
my cells have changed,

I hope someday I will be empty
