MANDATEDevelopandexecuteregulationsandBy-lawstogoverntheeducationandpracticeofNursesandMidwivesinaccordancewith theNursesandMidwivesAct,andsubsidiaryRegulations.MISSIONProvideleadershipandexpertiserelatedtonursingeducationandpracticebydevelopingandupdatingstandards,servingasa regulatorybody,andthroughongoingcollaboration withschoolsofnursing,otherhealthprofessions,andBahamianpopulace.VISIONBethemodelNursingProfessionalRegulatoryBodythatensurestheprotection of the publicbysupporting the development /utilization ofwelltrained,modern,flexiblenursinghumanresourcescapableof deliveringhighqualitysafeandeffectivenursingcaretothepeopleof thecommonwealthofTheBahamas.PURPOSEControlthe TrainingandPracticeofNursesandMidwives,ensuringthat thepublicreceivessafe,effectiveandethicalnursingcare.POWERSOFTHECOUNCILApprovingtrainingprograms,facilitiesandfaculty Settingexaminations Settingstandardsforpracticeanddealingwithcomplaintsandfitnesstopractice.Makeregulations togovernthepracticeofnursinganditsmembersinaccordancewith theNursesandMidwivesAct.Makebye-lawsrelatedtotheadministrativeanddomesticaffairs of thecouncilconsistentwiththeActandsubsidiaryRegulations.Controlthe education, trainingandpractice ofNursesandMidwives.RegisterandenrollNursesandMidwivesDisciplineofNursesbysuspensionor Striking ofnameoff the register. ....-... ----.... COUNCIL MEMBERS The Council consistsoften (10) members appointed by the MinisterofHealth. FiveNurses are selected by the Minister in consultation with the DirectorofNursing.
