The theme for this Nurses monthis"Safe StaffingSaveslives" Thereisnodoubt that numbers of health care workers make adifference. Improved nursestaffing(innumbers and skill-mix)isassociatedwithlower inpadem mortality rates, a decreaseinadverse events, andshorterhospi tal stays"savingboth lives and money.Highpatient-to-nurse ratiosnotonly have a negative impact on patient outcomes but also affect the nurseswhoare at higher risk of emotional exhaustion, stress, job dissatisfaction and burnout.
