Abstract:
For the Samuel Proctor Oral History Program's Fall 2013 Intern Class. Immigrant rights activist Neidi Dominguez discusses her experiences as an undocumented immigrant in the California higher education system. Topics include Proposition 187, the country’s first state-level immigration legislation, Assembly Bill 540, which allowed non-citizen students and certain out-of-state citizens to pay in-state tuition at California universities, Dominguez’s admission to the University of California at Santa Cruz, and her experiences agitating for the rights of undocumented immigrants and “AB 540” students through the “Students Informing Now” organization.
