REGULATIONS GOVERNING THE PREPARATION, SALE, BARTER,
EXCHANGE, SHIPMENT, AND IMPORTATION OF VIRUSES, SERUMS,
TOXINS, AND ANALOGOUS PRODUCTS INTENDED FOR USE IN THE
TREATMENT OF DOMESTIC ANIMALS

(EFFECTIVE ON AND AFTER FEBRUARY 1, 1934)

OFFICE OF THE SECRETARY,
Washington, D. C., January 3, 1934.
Under authority conferred by law upon the Secretary of Agriculture, B. A. I.
Order 276, dated August 18, 1922, and effective November 1, 1922, as amended,
is hereby further amended as follows:
Paragraph 2, section 5, Regulation 18, is revoked.
Subdivision (b), paragraph 2, section 10, Regulation 19, as amended, is
revoked, and in lieu thereof the following subdivision is prescribed:
(b) Clear anti-hog-cholera serum mixed on and after the (late of this amend-
ment shall consist of not less than 88 percent of true serum and not more than
12 percent of such solutions as are required for the clarification of the blood
and the preservation of the serum. The completed product shall represent not
more than 83 percent of the defibrinated hyperimmune blood used, or 80.51
percent of the whole hyperimmune blood used in its preparation.
Paragraph 5, Section 11, Regulation 19, as amended, is revoked, and in lieu
thereof the following paragraph is prescribed:
PARAGRAPH 5. Trade labels affixed to or used in connection with the immediate
or true containers of anti-hog-cholera serum shall show the quantity of the
contents of said containers. Said labels for clear serum containing not less
than 84 percent of true serum may show that the product contains 80 percent
protective serum, provided it is marketed before December 1, 1934. After said
date labels for clear serum containing not less than 88 percent o(if true serum
may show that the product conforms to the provisions of subdivision (b) of
this amendment.
This amendment, designated as Amendment 11 to B. A. I. Order 276, shall
become and be effective on and after February 1, 193], except as provided
herein.
