AMENDMENT 88 TO B. A. I. ORDER 287.-TO PREVENT THE SPREAD
OF FOOT-AND-MOUTH DISEASE IN CATTLE, SHEEP, OTHER
RUMINANTS, AND SWINE

i Under authority conferred upon the Secretary of Agriculture by
I section 2 of the act of Congress approved February 2. 1903 (32 Stat.
i, 791), B. A. I. Order 287, dated February 23, 1924, as amended, is
|1 hereby further amended in the following particulars:
The following area in the State of Texas is designated as "Closed
Area ": All territory within the following-described boundary line:
Beginning at the point where the Texas & New Orleans Railway
crosses Greens Bayou in Harris County; thence running southeast-
ward along the east bank of Greens Bayou to the Houston Ship
Channel; thence running eastward along the north bank of the"
Houston Ship Channel to the Lynchburg Ferry; thence running
S ~ southward on the Lynchburg-LaPorte cut-off road to the Galveston.
!| Harrisburg & San Antonio Railway; thence running due south to
: the P Street Road; thence running west on P Street Road to the
shell road; thence running south on shell road to the L Street Road:
thence running west on L Street Road to its terminus; thence run-
ning due south to the J Street Road: thence running west on the
J Street Road to Middle Bayou; thence running southeastward along
the east bank of Middle Bayou to Clear Lake; thence running west-
ward along the north bank of Clear Lake and Clear Creek to the
Galveston-Houston Electric Railway; thence running southeastward
across the Galveston County line along the Galveston-Houston Elec-
tric Railway to the LaMarque-Hitchcock highway; thence running
westward along said highway to the Gulf, Colorado & Santa Fe
Railway at Hitchcock; thence running southeastward along the said
railway to Virginia Point; thence running southwestward along the
coast line across the Brazoria County line to the mouth of Mustang
Bayou; thence running northwestward along the west bank of
Mustang Bayou to the Alvin-Galveston highway; thence running
westward on said highway to the telephone road: thence running
northward on telephone road to the Alvin-Friendswood Road;
thence running northeastward along the Alvin-Friendswood Road
to the Pearland-Friendswood Road; thence running westward along
| said road to the telephone road; thence running northward along the

All territory within Harris, Galveston, and Brazoria Counties, "i
Tex., quarantined by Amendments 36 and 37 to said Order 287, and :
located outside the aforesaid-described and designated "Closed |
Area" is hereby designated as "Modified Area," and the interstate J ,
and foreign shipment, transportation, and movement from the said
"Modified Area" of the dressed carcasses, hides, skins, and hoofs of
cattle, sheep, and other ruminants, hay, straw, and similar fodder,
and wool, is permitted without any of the restrictions imposed by
said-mentioned order and amendments.
This amendment, which, for the purpose of identification, is
designated as Amendment 38 to B. A. I. Order 287, shall become
and be effective on and after December 1, 1925.
