AMENDMENT 1 TO B. A. I. ORDER 314-TO PREVENT THE SPREAD
OF FOOT-AND-MOUTH DISEASE IN CATTLE, SHEEP, OTHER
RUMX INANTS, AND SWINE

ct has been determined by the Secretary of Agriculture, and notice
4 y given, that a contagious and communicable disease known as foot-
mouth disease exists in livestock in the State of California in an area not
covered by the quarantine established by B. A. I. Order 314, dated January 19,
S.1, .. t iand effective on January 19, 1929.
Ii'.. < i? ow, therefore, I, W. M. Jardine, Secretary of Agriculture, under authority
S.' 'conferred by section 1 of the act of Congress approved March 3, 1905 (33 Stat.
S1264), do hereby quarantine all that portion of Los Angeles County, Calif.,
lying within the following boundary lines: Beginning at the Pacific Ocean at
Alamitos Bay and running thence northwesterly along the lines of the Pacific
S Electric Railway to Slauson Junction; thence running easterly along the lines
of said railway to Maywood; thence running northeasterly to the Pacific Electric
Railway at Alhambra; thence running easterly along said railway to El Monte;
i: .. thence running southeasterly along the Southern Pacific Railroad to Puente;
:thence running south to the Orange County line; thence running southwesterly
along said county, line to the Pacific Ocean, and do hereby amend said B. A. I.

It is further ordered by this amendment to B. A. I. Order 314, under the
I authority and discretion conferred on the Secretary of Agriculture by section
S*. 3of the act of Congress approved March 3, 1905 (33 Stat. 1264), and section
1' ii of the act of Congress approved February 2, 1903 (32 Stat 791), that the
interstate or foreign movement of cattle, sheep, other ruminants, and swine,
S:from, into, or through said quarantined area, and the interstate or foreign
shipmentts of the dressed carcasses of calves, sheep, and other ruminants, and
S of the hides, skins, and hoofs of cattle, sheep, and other ruminants, and of all
hay, straw, or similar fodder from any point in the said-mentioned quarantined
S area shaU lbe made only in accordance with and subject in all respects to the
S conditions, requirements, and restrictions of said B. A. I. Order 314.
This amendment, which for the purpose of identification, is designated as
Am:end;tent 1 to B. A. I. Order 314, shall become and be effective on and after
February 2, 1929.
