This is the second accident of the kind with nus,

wood cuts don't pay-the printer. But large, well-
displayed adv ertisements 'lie HAlnnrIoToT's) do

ed notice, anon.

"Tffa SPELL isa BaoKEN"-th long "spell" of
worm and plcaant weather, we mean, which has
been so friendly to the ravages of mosquitoes and
caterpillars.
The delightfully clear, "cold snap" eucce:ding the
heavy rain ofl Mondiy night, enables us to write the
valedictory of there iiincorrigible iuse'lts, foray stcaon,
at hIast. But while we bid ra joyful adieu to these
annoyances, let us remember that in the widowed,
orphaned household of full many a fallen Confeder-
atc's home, shirerin.g want be-ains now to hyber-
nate. To reliur. thim winter sufl'eringshonld be the
first thought that Encceeds the exhilarating glow of
welcomed winter xieother.

they are offering crates of assorted ware, which are
put up in Europe erpressly for their house, atd

"8CALED."-Strange beading this, indeed, to indl-
Scate the action of the City Council of Tallahassee.-
But it "oits the nail on thehead," nevertheless. In-
deed, wc were almost tempted, in alluding to this
subject toselect thrit favorite Butlerian word--"bot.
tled"-as more forcibly indicating the status, ol the
City Council to the public.
In towns no larger than Madison we observe that
the regular Council proceedings are published for
the Inlormation of the public; and so of Jackson-
ville and t.he other towns in the State. Why not in
the chief city-the Capito) of the State ?
"Where ignorance is bliss, 'tis folly to be wise,"
sBIth the adage; sand yet, we really fail to apprehend
where exists the blisss" to be found in the "igno-
rant" violation of laws and ordinainces which have
never been published.
Let the city ordinances ol Tallahiasee and toe
proceedings of the City Council be regularly pub-
Ulhed, that he "who runs may read ;"'and that "the"
way-faring man, though a lool, need not err there-

published within its limits. Ad g patronge
has co-erced almost every paper that reaches us into"
an enlargement or a supplemental ad1itipbo.
In the midst of general despondency ana.ippr..

columns of Itl newsapacrs. Are we correct, broth-

pearance of the newspapers throughout the land to
enkindle hopefulness; lor many of them havedoubled
their navet sing within the past year.:
This is as it should be The best country that tho
