At UF, each digital collection is under the purview of one or more Curators or Program Directors, with collaborative support from the Head of Digital Development & Web Services and/or Digital Humanities Librarian. For scholarly digital projects and archives, teaching faculty partner and collaborate with Curators/Program Directors following the processes for their collections. This documentation provides additional information and resources for using the IR@UF in terms of ways to load large files and data sets, with these as additional methods that complement the online submission system.

IR@UF: User Supports and Workflows for Items with Large F i les With the online self submission tools, users can creat e metadata and upload materials directly through the online tools for the IR@UF As of November 2013, most users have found tha t t he online tools are best for files of several 100MB or less. The maximum file size that can be loade d through the onlin e system varies because it is limited by factors including the local user computer, web browser, web connection, and other factors. In order to ensure users are not inconvenienced by any limits, there are many additional ways for transferring and loading files. For items with files that are too large to load using the online in terface, the user normal ly create s the item with metadata only Then, the user e mails with the permanent link for the item and information on the file transfer process following one of the methods below Users in the UF Libraries, Transferring & Loading Large Files : Internal Server UF users in the UF Libraries can transfer large files using the specified internal library server, which all in the libraries can access. U sers in the UF Libraries should copy files to this internal server address: \ \ \ uflib \ SharedProjects \ UFDC Users should then email with the permanent link for the item and confirms that the files on are on the internal server. Users at UF Transferring & Loading Large Files : File Express UF users can tran sfer files of up to 5GB for each file using the File Express service ( https://file ). UF users sh ould load the files to File Express ( https://file ) following the directions to ensure access, and include as the recipient for accessing the files Users should then email with the permanent link for the item and the URL to the files on File Express Non UF Users For non UF users, a number of other methods (FTP, mailing DVDs, etc.) are supported. Users should contact with any questions.
