Page 1 of 1 Overview C urators often build o nline exhibits to complement digital collections as well as using online exhibits as a way of building n ew digital collections and as a way of bui lding toward s a larger digital collection. T he Exhibits Policy shows the synergies with digital collections ( aggregations ) more broadly : Exhibits within the Libra ries are to be managed by the Libraries and should have a Library faculty or staff member as primary curator. The curator(s) should work in consultation with the Exhibits Coordinator to plan, develop, install, and promote exhibits within the Libraries. Co curating and us collections and with campus departments, the community, and other institutions is encouraged. The Exhibits Proposal ( http://exhibits.uflib.ufl.edu/docs/ExhibitProposal.pdf ) o ffers a relevan t and related framework fo r collecting and presenting essential information for new digital aggregations by s tructuring and capturing the theme, abstract, collectio n ( s ) featured, Curator(s), and othe r i nformation. Digitizing Exhibit Items a nd the Process for Inclusion in Digital Collections In addition to alignment in terms of the conceptual framework, exhibits also result in new digitized and digitally curated materials. As explained in t he Exhibits Policy ( http://exhibits.uflib.ufl.edu/docs/ExhibitsPolicy.pdf ) : Physical exhibitions created by the Libraries shall have compl ementary online component(s) as appropriate. All online material created for, or in conjunctio n wit h exhibitions shall be archived and publicly available in the University of Florida Digital Collections ( http://ufdc.ufl.edu ). To support the Exhibits Policy time and resources are al located on an ongoing basis for digitiz ing m aterials for exhibits In addition to digitized materials the Exhibits Coordinator organizes and archives relevant materials ( e.g., object lists, etc.) i n the approp riate Curator controlled collection (s) as well as the Exhibit Materia ls Digital C o llection : http://ufdc.ufl.edu/exhibitmaterials Online Exhibits and Digital Collections O nline exhi bi ts are hosted on t he Exhibits website and /or the appropriate t hema tic research digital collection A ll online exhibits are listed and linked on the Exhibits websit e w hich also links to the e xhibit ma teri a l s : http://exhibits.uflib.ufl.edu/online.html
