track and field coaches is pay-
ing a ten-day visit to Haiti on
an invitation from the Sports
Bureau to see what it would
take to revive track here as a
major sport.

visit to the Sun -offices, -The
material is here. What you need
is organization., And there is a
chance that Mr. Yancey will re-
turn to Haiti for several months
to see that the organization gets
underway.
We- doubt whether we could
find a more suitable person for
the job. Few coaches in ama-
teur athletics can boast such a
stellar record. Last year, for
instance, the Jamaican Olympic

Message Of Secty. Of'State Jumelle

On Anniversary Of Dessalines Death

One hundred and forty-seven years ago, a dolorous era of
internal battles opened at Pont Rouge an era which was to
dye the Haitian soil with blood. The Liberator fell under the
blows of the people for whom he had won a place in the Com-
munity of MAen.
One hundred and forty-seven years have passed! One hun-
dred and forty Iseven years of diverse experience, of lessons -
often bitter ones which sometimes could be termed sanctions.
The Haitian People have grasped the major lesson of Octgber
17th and consecrated this date by an act of contrition. Very soon,
by the great events which will commemorate the 150th anniver-
sary of our birth of Independence, by monuments which will
mark the sacred spots that awakened the soul of the Nation, fAe
Fathers of our Country will be given their much deserved .
homage by their grateful descendants.
May the'present and future generations, be impressed by the
great significance .of an action so inspired by filial piety and 1ren-
der themselves worthy of the exceptional heritage which has
been handed down to them.

I felt up to my neck in trou-

I drank the two double w\his-

thought of the shape of Mrs.

I thought of the hundred thou-

so long in my memory. I thought
of Mrs. Walgren and I, walking
hand in hand into the sunset,
like they do in the movies. It

I felt a strange urge within

stronger than my will, too strong
to resist. Paying the bartender,
I got down from my stool, walk-
ed out to my car, got in and
headed for the Hotel Riviera.
To be concluded next week.
