 Notes
Abstract: Handout for Market Wise presentation and discussion, with this handout focusing on Digital Humanities job opportunities. The so-called “digital humanities” have been defined in many ways, including understanding the digital humanities as a “term of tactical convenience” (Matthew Kirschenbaum). As a term of tactical convenience, the digital humanities both reinforce the value of the humanities and support a more open discussion on what the humanities can and do mean, and this translates into opening discussions on humanities expertise as it relates to job opportunities. We will discuss different types of digital humanities job opportunities within academia, including tenure and non-tenure track positions and the benefits and considerations for both, resources for learning about digital humanities job opportunities, and resources at UF for developing, documenting, and presenting your skills as they relate to these job opportunities.
