RESULT OF THE RELATIVELY LIGHT MAKE IN
DECEMBER, 1931. THIS IS INDICATED BY THE
FACT THAT EVAPORATED MILK PRODUCTION IN
THE LAST MENTIONED PERIOD SHOWED A SEASON-
AL INCREASE OF BUT 3.0 P-ER CENT OVER THE
MAKE OF THE PREVIOUS MONTH, WHILE THE
INCREASE IN 1930 AMOUNTED TO 18.6 PER
CENT, IN 1929 TO 10.0 PER CENT, AND IN
1928 TO 13.0 PER CENT. THE 9.6 PER CENT
SEASONAL INCREASE FROM NOVEMBER TO
DECEMBER, 1932 WAS, THEREFORE, SMALLER
-HAN AVERAGE. THIS WAS DUE PRIMARILY TO
-HE FACT THAT THE NUMBER OF PRODUCERS
,ELIVERING MILK TO CONDENSERIES DECREASED
'ATHER'SHARPLY, AS MILK DELIVERIES PER
PRODUCERR GAINED CONSIDERABLY MORE THAN
DURING THESE MONTHS IN 1931. EVAPORATED
IILK PRODUCTION (CASE GOODS) DURING 1932
'AS 5.9 PER CENT HEAVIER THAN IN 1931,
ACCORDINGG TO THE BEST FIGURES AVAILABLE
\T THIS TIME.

THE APPARENT MOVEMENT OF EVAPORAT-
ED MILK INTO TRADE CHANNELS IN DECEMBER,
1932 WAS DECIDEDLY HEAVIER THAN DURING
THAT MONTH A YEAR EARLIER. STOCKS WHICH,
ON DECEMBER I, 1932 WERE STILL SLIGHTLY
HEAVIER THAN ON THE SAME DATE IN 1931
ACTUALLY SHOWED A DEFICIT ON JANUARY I,
1933 UNDER SUPPLIES ON THE SAME DATE OF
THE PREVIOUS YEAR OF 24.2 PER CENT, THIS
.DESPITE THE 12.0 PER CENT HEAVIER

+ 6.33
+ 2.04
F EVAPORATED

PRODUCTION IN DECEMBER, 1932 OVER DECEM-
BER, 1I31. THE 23.5 PER CENT REDUCTION
IN EVAPORATED MILK STOCKS DURING DECEM-
BER, 1932 COMPARES WITH A REDUCTION OF
6.0 PER CENT DURING .THAT MONTH IN 1931,
15.0 PER CENT IN 1930, AND 3'.0 PER CENT
IN 1929.

CONDENSED MILK MARKETS IN JANUARY
CONTINUED ABOUT STEADY, WITH'THE GENERAL
SITUATION LACKING NEW DEVELOPMENTS. AS
ALWAYS AT THIS SEASON, THE MOVEMENT INTO
CONSUMPTION WAS SLOW. PRODUCTION DURING
DECEMBER WAS 17.5 PER CENT LIGHTER THAN
IN DECEMBER,-.1931; AND SHOWED A SEASONAL
INCREASE OF 16.5 PER CENT FROM THE NOV-
EMBER MAKE. IN'1931 TH'S INCREASE
AMOUNTED TO BUT 3.0 PER CENT, IN 1930 TO
4.0 PER CENT, AND IN 1929 TO 12.0 PER
CENT. CONDENSED MILK PRODUCTION DURING
THE YEAR 1932 WAS 22.5 PER CENT LIGHTER
THAN DURING 1931, ACCORDING TO THE BEST
AVAILABLE ESTIMATES. THE LIGHT MOVEMENT
:OF CONDENSED MILK INTO CONSUMPTION WAS
REFLECTED IN THE BUT 11.2 PEF CENT
DECREASE IN -STOCKS DURING DECEMBER. AS
A RESUL-T, JANUARY I SUPPLIES "WERE ONLY
5.6 PER CENT LIGHTER THAN ON THE SAME
DATE A YEAR EARLIER, ALTHOUGH STILL
APPROXIMATELY 40.0 PER CENT LIGHTER
THAN 5-YEAR AVERAGE STOCKS.
