1984 SIAL Paris

The management of the International Food Fair SIAL which is held in Paris has
announced a change of date. The 1984 SIAL will be held from June 18-22, 1984 at the
Porte de Versaille in Paris, France. FAS plans to sponsor a national food exhibit.
Details on FAS participation will be announced later in Export Briefs.


Canada Captan Residue Tolerance Level Reduced. Effective April 13, 1983 Canada
reduced the maximum residue tolerance level for the fungicide Captan on a wide range

of US produced horticultural crops to 5 parts per million (PPM). This action
followed review of the fungicide by Health and Welfare Canada and Agriculture Canada
and was pursuant to GATT standards notification of July 12, 1982. Enforcement by
Health and Welfare applies to imported and domestic produce on effective date.
