Notice of Foreign Proposals Concerning Standards in Agriculture. As required of all
signatories to the GATT Standards Code, the following notifications of foreign proposed
standards-related rules have been provided for the information and comment of interested
agencies and firms. The Technical Office invites inquiries from anyone who believes that
any of the proposed regulations notified under this heading could cause a trade problem.
From time to time we also receive information through our embassies in foreign countries,
as is the case this week. Request for copies or questions can be referred to Carolyn
Wilson, USDA Technical Office, Foreign Agricultural Service, Room 5530 South Agriculture
Building, Washington, D.C. 20250; or phone (202) 382-1318. Anyone interested in

adoption and entry into force was August 22, 1984.
Saudi Arabia The Agricultural Trade Office has provided the Technical Office with a
complete (with one exception) set of Saudi Standards on dairy products.

FOREIGN SALES CORPORATION CONFERENCE
The Foreign Sales Corporation Act, recently signed into law by the President and
representing a part of the Tax Reform Act of 1984, was enacted to replace the DISC. It
becomes effective January 1, 1985.
The FSC export tax incentive is probably the most significant international tax
development for all U.S. exporters in the past ten years. If you are a corporate official
responsible for taxation, financial or international planning, business development or
public affairs, you will know that this program offers a real opportunity for your company
to learn the revised rules of export management.
The U.S. Department of Commerce is sponsoring a series of one day comprehensive
conferences on FSC. If you want to attend, please contact your local Department of
