EEC/UK Red Meat Requirements Deadline (United Kingdom). The
February 1, 1980 issue of Export Briefs carried a story
concerning the March 1 deadline established by the British
MAFF for compliance with UK requirements for U.S. meat packing
plants wishing to export to the United Kingdom.

This deadline has been extended as follows:

1. All U.S. plants currently approved for the
United Kingdom may continue to ship until August 1.

2. Plants that will not be able to comply with the
UK requirement for cleaning paunch and intestines
should stop shipping on August 1 so the product
arrives in the UK before September 1.

3. By August 1, or hopefully earlier, FSQS will
send to the MAFF a list of any additional plants
that can comply with the UK requirement. This list
and the one submitted to the MAFF in January 1980
will be accepted by the British as certified for export
to the UK effective September 1.
