Foreign Trade Developments

British Frozen Food Fair. The first British Frozen Food Trade Fair will
take place at Grosvenor House, London, June 7-10, 1981. It will be held
in conjunction with a British Frozen Food Week. The Trade Fair and Frozen
Food Week are being sponsored and supported by the British Frozen Food
Federation and the United Kingdom Association of Frozen Food Producers
and will become a bi-annual event. For further information contact:
R. H. Abrahams, Eagle Exhibition Consultants Ltd., Ludgate House, 110,
Fleet Street, London EC4A 2JL, England. Phone: 01 353 4885/9.
Telex: 21977.

Results of Japanese beef tender. At tender on August 6, the LIPC (Livestock
Industry Promotion Corp.) purchased 6,995.9 mt of frozen beef, including
1,440 mt grainfed cuts. Grainfed purchase fell short of planned 1,700 mt
because no beef skirt plates purchased. Trade Sources surmise lowest bids
around 208 cents unable to meet LIPC's assumed ceiling of 195-200 cents
for beef skirt plates. Recent depreciation of Yen has also hurt this
business. Grainfed purchases by cut are as follows: sq. cut chuck #116 -
904 mt., brisket #120 536 mt., TOTAL Grainfed 1,440 mt.
