Standard procedure for Moroccan tenders. Because of the short notice (2 to
5 days) for Moroccan soybean, soybean oil/sunflowerseed oil tenders,
theExport Briefs and Trade Opportunity Referral Service of FAS cannot be

tender announcements directly to interested companies. Any U.S. firm not
currently receiving these telexes and wishing to be placed on the
Ministry's list may request such action by contacting: Monsieur Le Chef Du
Service Des Industries Alimentaires Et Agricoles, Direction De L'Industrie,

Philippine beef import allocations. The Philippine Government is making
import allocations of beef, other than high quality beef for
hotel/restaurant trade, on a quarterly basis to only those importers who
are genuine processors and who have an import history. Items sold to
brokers or companies without import licenses in hand will, in all
probability, not be allowed entry. Accordingly it is recommended that U.S.
exporters require from their Philippine buyer at time of sale, either
physical presentation of import certificate or a performance bond to this
effect. The above does not apply to high quality beef for hotel and
restaurant trade.

Canadian requirements for containers of imported meats. On July 18, 1980
the Meat Hygiene Division of Agriculture Canada Announced that shipping
containers of imported prepackaged meat products no longer have to be
submitted for label approval. However, packers must ensure that the
cartons bear all the mandatory information such as product description,
country of origin, net quantity, packer's name and address, inspection
stamp or statement, and storage instructions. Shipping cartons for bulk
packed products such as boneless beef must continue to be submitted to the
Meat Hygiene Division for approval.
