Foreign Trade Developments:
Spanish ports for receipt of pork offals. Until further notice U.S. exporters
of pork offals (ref MPI Bulletin 79-60 dtd June 6, 1979) to Spain should
consign shipments only to the following Spanish ports to avoid customs clearance
problems: (In order of preference) Santander, Valencia, or Barcelona. The
covering certificate of origin and health for all shipments should indicate both
freezing date and freezing temperature.
Japanese beef import quotas. The Livestock Industry Promotion Corporation (LIPC)
has announced first-half JFY79 (April 79-March 1980) special Japanese beef
import quotas as follows: (1st half JFY78 in parenthesis) Boiled beef
3,400 metric tons(2,400)'; Hotel Beef 1.500 mt 11,500); and School Lunch
1,500 metric tons (1,500). Practically all the hotel quota is filled by U.S.
high quality grain fed beef and the larger share of boiled beef and school lunch
