Foreign Trade Pevelopments

Notice of Foreign Proposals Concerning Standards in Agriculture. As
required of all signatories to the GATT Standards Code, this notification
of foreign proposed standards-related rules has been provided for the
information and comment of interested agencies and firms. The Technical
Office invites inquiries from anyone who believes that any of the proposed
regulations notified under this heading could cause a trade problem.

United Kingdon. The "Imported Food (Amendments) Pegulations 10P1" and the
"Imported Food (Northern Ireland) (Amendment) Pegulations 10Pl" have been
Proposed by the British Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food to








further amend their 1968 Regulations. The purpose of these amendments is
"to ensure that all poultry meat products imported into Fngland and Wales
and Northern Ireland respectively are subject to similar conditions to
those which already apply to other meat products." These and similar
regulations for Scotland will come into effect on November 15, 1981.

Spain. An Order by the Spanish Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries dated
May 30, 1981, establishes "Technical Requirements for the ImportatJon of
Animal Genetic Material."

New York Symposium on Business Opportunities in Egypt. A Symposium on
Business and Investment Opportunities in Fgypt will be held at the Waldorf
Astoria on September 3 and 4. Three fields will be emphasized:
Agribusiness, Construction and Tourism. Minister of Tourism and Civil
Aviation Gamal El Nazer and Ministery of State for Finance Fouad Pussein
