Flora-Fauna 80 Show in Belgium. The Antwerp Royal Zoological Society (ARZS) is

New French Regulations for Canned and Frozen Foods. The regulations will take effect
September 8, 1980 and the main provisions are:
1. All canned food, frozen food except meat, ice creams and sorbet, must include a
limit of usage date on the package. The dates must be as follows:
2. -Under three months the date must be expressed by day and month.
-Between three months and eighteen months the month and year is required and
-Over eighteen months only the year is required.
3. Another option is the include the fabrication date (day, month and year) and
indicate the length of time it must be used as follows:
-by number of days if under three months
-by number of months for 3 18 months
-by number of years for over 18 months.
4. The identification mark must include the fabrication date and private symbols and
mention the word "lot."
5. Depending on kind of products the fabrication date may be the date frozen or
the packaging date.
6. For imported food products, the fabrication date, may be expressed by using the
.foreign code if the importer informs the Service de la Repression des Fraudes
44-46, Boulevard de Grenelle, 75732 Paris Cedex 15.


New Japanese Tariffs. As a result of MTN negotiations new tariff reductions for
imported meat have been announced by Japan. Effective April 26, 1980 the following
will apply:
OLD NEW
Beef offals 25% 22.5%
Pork & pork offals 10% 8.8%
Turkey meat 20% 12.5%
Chicken meat 20% 17.5%
