translated into Japanese, Spanish, French, Italian, and Greek and is direct mailed to
some 10,000 firms. In addition, a nuber of our posts publish selected items fromt
each issue. These selected mailing reach some 17,000 additional foreign firms. If

for participation in this program is givn to ney-to-market products and
new-to-export firms, all firms are invited to participate and participation is free.


Cancellation of Overseas Livestock Shows. We have been advised that the following
overseas livestock shows in which FAS planned to participate (announced in Export
Briefs No. 42, 1982) have been cancelled by the host governments.

lova Winter Beef Expo February 13-18, 1983. The seventh annual lova Winter Beef Elxpo
will be held February 13-18, 1983 at the lova State Fairgrounds in Des Moines, Iowa.
The Expo wl~ll feature 18 beef breed sales wiJith over 1,000 head of breeding animals
from top Iowa a ndidwest cattle breeders offered for sale. Breeds represented are
as follows: Angus, Ankina, Charolais, Chianina, Gelbvich, Hereford, Limousin,
Normande, Maine-Anjou, Murrey Grey, Pinagauer, Polled Bereford, Red Angus, Santa
Gertrudis, Sinmmental, Shorthorn, South Devon ad White Park. The Iowa Winter Beef
Expo is sponsored by the lov Beef Breeds Council, International. visitors are
welcome. Hosts will be available to assist foreign individuals with introductions,

Personnel change. Lyle Mloe, who has been the editor of Export Briefs the past year,
will be taking a new position within FAS effective January 10r Joe Wahlar will be
the new coordinator of the TORS Programs which includes Export Briefs. Joe has
worked in the Grain and Feed Division within FAS and for the past several years has
helped established new computerized operations with our overseas offices. Lyle has
enjoyed the contact he has had with many of you and Joe looks forward to working with
you in the months ahead.
