Foreign Market Development
French Language Requirements on Imports: Recently the French official journl published
a circular, signed by the~ Prime Minister, stating that all documents, labels, etc.
Accompanying imports agriculturall and industrial) must be written in the French
language. According to the circular, such items as contracts, bills-of-lading, labels,
packages, advertising ~material, etc. must be in French. The French have already begun
implementing measure. The U.S. has protested with respect to the legality of this
