Severe Blow To The Wo
By JACK V. FOX

LONDON. Jan. 36 (UP)- The
serious Uliness of Fore. Secret-
ary Irmst Bevin (latest reports
today said he was "holding his
own") eosu far more to Brit-
ain an to the world than just
the loss of a competent man
from a high Job. The blunt fact
is that Bevin. at 60, is the only
man with a village school educa-
tion and the experience as an
organlser who la capable of hold-
Ing Britain's Number Two Job
under pressures that come partl-
cularly fron within his own
party. .
I That's brought home by the
fact that Primp Minister Clement
Attlee has thought it necessary to
take over personally the active
direction of foreign affairs, add-
Ing that load to the tremendous
burden he already 'arres.
