January 1, 1967 was 1,932 compared with 2,365 on January 1, 1965 and
2,911 on January 1, 1963. Egg capacity of these hatcheries on

country South Atlantic and South Central. Between January 1, 1965
and January 1, 1967, there was an increase in both the number and

This group accounted for 54 percent of the total egg capacity
on January 1, 1967, compared with 45 percent on January 1, 1965.
Hatcheries with a. capacity from 100,000 to 499,999 eggs had 36
percent of the total egg capacity in 1967 compared with 42 percent
in 1965 and 46 percent in 1963.

Fewer and larger turkey hatcheries have been the trends
during the past 8 years of available statistics. The 407 hatcheries
operating as of January 1, 1967 compares with 453 on January 1, 1965
and 682 on January 1, 1959. Egg capacity increased from 51,085,000
eggs on January 1, 1965 to 56,983,000 on January 1, 1967. There
was a decrease in number of hatcheries but an increase in egg
capacity between 1965 and 1967 in turkey hatcheries having an
egg capacity of 500,000 eggs and over. On January 1, 1967
turkey hatcheries having an egg capacity of 100,000 to 499,999 eggs
