Export figures include reexports, trade be-
tween Alaska, Hawaii and Puerto Rico and foreign

Government agencies except the U.S. Armed Forces
and exports under the various foreign relief
programs made on commercial vessels only. Ex-
cluded from export figures are shipments to the

use, shipments by the Department of the Army to
occupied countries under its Civilian Supply

Exports by vessel are credited to the
Customs District and port at which the merchan-
dise was leader.

The import figures are Feneral imports and
represent the total of imports for immediate con-
sumption plus entries into Customs bonded storage
and manufacturing warehouses. Imports by vessel
are credited to the Customs District and port at
which the merchandise was unladen, even though
this may be different from the Customs District
in which the goods were entered into warehouses
or entered for immediate consumption.

Shipments on Army-or Navy-operattd vessels
and shipments in transit through the Unitej States

cluded in either the import or export fc1'rez.
Army-or Navy-operatei vessels represent export
shipments under special programs such as Civilian

innort shipments made by the Le-artir.&e:i. of the
Army or Departmer.t of the Navy under tht- follo -

Tments.
2. Shipments urder these programs by the
Department of the Army and Navy on Army
