The Import figures are general imports

m ea. te consumption plus entries into Cus-
S tos bonded storage and manufacturing ware-
houses.

? .. Shipments on Army-or Navy-operated ves-
se6.s and shipment in transit through the


United States from one foreign country to
another are not included In either the Import
or export figures. Army-or Navy-operated
vessels represent export shipments under
special programs such as Civilian Supply,
Interim Aid, Greek-Turkish Aid, etc. and
Import shipments made by the Department of
the Army or Department of the Navy under
the following arrangements:

1. Shipments under those programs by
the Departments of the Army and
Navy on American-flag commercial
vessels. In most cases the vessels
are chartered by the Army or Navy
under time charter, voyage charter
or space charter arrangements.
2. Shipments under these programs by
the Department of the Army and
Navy on Army or Navy transports
(vessels owned and operated by the
Army or Navy)

None of the import or export figures have
been adjusted for change in price level.

The data presented in the following
tables are preliminary and include revi-
sions which have been made since the re-
lease of data for August 1948.


FOREIGN TRADE REPORTS OF THE BUREAU OF TEE CENSUS

Summary reports showing monthly data on United States foreign trade are Issued as follows:

FT 900 Overall total export and import date; no country or commodity detail.
FT 950 Exports and imports by economic classes and leading commodities; no country detail.
FT 950 Exports and imports by countries of destination and origin; no commodity data.
FT. 90 Foreign trade by United States Customs Districts; no commodity or country date.
FT 972 Water-borne foreign trade by United States Customs Districts end ports.
IT 9f3 Water-borne foreign trade by trade area.
FT 975 Entrances and clearances of vessels by United States Customs Districts and areas.
FT 976 Participation of American and Foreign Flag Vessels In shipments under United States
Foreign Relief Programs.
S gV 9e1 Shipping weight and Dollar Value of Merchandise Laden on and Unladen from Vessels at
U. 8. Ports during the Intransit Movement or the Merchandise from one Foreign Country
to another.
