BARAM.ASoEST. 1974A MONTHLY NEWSLETTER January 199Institutionsofhigherlearningare tu,provideavenuesforman'sexpansionofhisknowledge.One aidinthesearchforknowledge,isthelibrary.Itsfunctionsaredictatedbytheclientsserved,andassuch,aremanyandvaried.Thetraditionalrolesofthe library, thatofcollectingbooksanddisseminatingi.nformation,havebeengreat-lyaffectedbythemanytechnologicaldevelopmentinrecentyears,aswellasbytheacceleratedrateofpublishedinformation.Informationisnowavailabletolibrariesinavarietyofformats,includingmicroformandaudiovisualformats.Thewidespreaduseofcomputershavealsoprovidedfasterretrievalanddeliveryofinformationtoclients.Thelibraryisthecentralorganofthe,college.Assuch,itreflectstheoverallgoalsandpoliciesoftheparentinstitutionandconsequentlystrivetoprovideinformationrelativetotheattainmentandrealizationofthosegoals.Toaccomplishthistask,itisimperativethatthelibraryacquiresrelevantinformation(regardlessofformat)andprovidequalityservice.Asmembersofthecollegecommunity,studentsareencouragedtoutilizetheresourcesandservicesofthelibrarytoimprovetheirchancesofacademicsuccess.Thisappearstobe withthebeliefthatthequalityandfrequencyofthedemands madebyindividualsonthelibrarymaybereflectedinlevelanddegreeofacademicsuccess.Thestaffofthelibraryextendsa warm welcometofacultyandstudentsandwishyouallasuccessfulyear.Additionally,itisprudenttorememberthattheprocessofassessingandevaluatingideas information,coupledwiththeabilitytotrackdownrequiredinformation,istheessenceofeducation.
