I:Ulfl" cr4A MONTHLY NEOnDecember10,The Bahcelebratesitsfirst year asatothedevelopmentofliteratureinThe BahamasasnecessaryingredientinthedevelopmentoftheBahamian TheAssociationaimstoprovideexposureforBahamian writers andwritings,toassistinthedevelopmentofmembers'writingskills,andtoattempttobeinvolvedinthedevelopmentofBahamiancurricula.Thefirstanniversary celebration consistsofabookfair/ symposiumtowhich36publishedandunpu.blishedauthorshavebeeninvited.Displaysoflocallyproducedbooks,manyavailableforpurchase,andtheopportunityforconversationwithauthorswillbehighlightsofthebookfair.Concurrently,thesymposiumoffersawidevarietyofevents.TheOfficialOpeningincludesDr.KevaBethel'sopeningaddress,theE.P.RobertsChoraleandaninterpretivedancebystudentsoftheLyfordCaySchool.TheSpeakers'GalleryfeaturespresentationsonCultureintheBahamianContext.JacksonBurnsideIII,TelcineTurner-Rolle,Dr.ClevelandEneasandPatriciaGlintonareamongthespeakers.Alternatingwiththespeakers'presentations,aTalentGalleryofperformancesinmusic,danceandcomedycompletesthe after noon's TheseincludeaperformancebytheUniversityPlayers,aninterpretivedancebyCharlotteMcSweeneywhichconsistsofdancingwhileaJeromeCartwrightpoemisbeingread,andaperformancebyGregLampkin,themoderncomedydramatist.Afterattendingthisevent,CollegeoftheBahamasstudentsandfacultymembers maywishtovisittheCollegeoftheBahamas Bahamiancollection,whichcontainsmany byparticipantsinthefair/symposium.Forexample,ObediahSmith'slatestbook,FruitsfromAfrica,wasrecentlyaddedtothecollection.ThelibraryinvitesstudentsandfacultytoutilizethisspecialcollectionofdiverseworksbyBahamiansoraboutTheBahamas.
