AMENDMENT TO -THE CODE OF FAIR COMPLETION
FOR THE
SHAIP BUILDING AND~l SHIP REPAIRING INDUSTRtY

An application having been made by the Ship Building and Ship
Repairing Industry Committee, pursuant to antd in. full compliance~
with the provisions of Title I of the National Industrial Recovery
Act, approved June 16, 1933, for modification and amendment of
t.he Code of Fair Competition for the Ship Buildinlg and- Shnip
Repasiring Industry, as heretofore approved by me, and for the
modification of my approval of said Code of Fair Competition
accordingly, and the Administration. having r~cormmended the
granting of such application, suchi proposed modifications and
amendments to be in accordance with the following~ proposals:
SEC. s '(8 ) TO effectuate further the policies of the Act, a Ship
Building and Ship Repairing Industry Commit~tee is hereby desiga-
nated to cooperate with the Administrator as a Planning and Fair
Practiice agerncy for the ship buldii~ng and shiip repairing industry.
This Committee shall consist of representatives of the Ship Builders
and Ship Repairers in such number not less than siz: as thle Admin-
istrator in his discretion may from time to timec determine, elected
by a fair method of selection to be approved by the Admilstrat~or,
and four/ members without vote appointed by the President of the
United States. Such agency may from time to time present
to the Administrator recommendations basedl on conditions in.
their industry as they may develop froma time to time which will tendI
to effectuate the operation of thle provisions of this C'ode and the
policy of the National Industria~l Recovery Act.

and otherwise, do approve thie granting of the aforesaid application,
such modtification and amendment to take effect one wveekr from the
date her~eof, unless good cause to the contrary is shown to the Admin-
istrator before that time, and do order that the final azpproval of the
Code of F~air Competition for the Ship Building atnd Sh~ip Rtepairingf
Industry contained in my Executive Order dated July 26, 10i3;,

sentatives of the Ship Builders and Ship Repairers instead of five
as provided for by th~e Code. The Secretary of the Navy has asked
for representation11 on the Industry Committee.
After full consideration and conference and agreement with the
representatives of the Industry it is r~ecomm ndeI~~d that, pu rsuan t to
the authority vested in you by Title I of thre National Industrial
Recovery Act applroved~ on July 26, 1933, you orderil that Section (a),
Paragraphn (8) of the Code be ame~nd-ed- to read as follow\\s:
