Mr. J. C. Chase, '
Orlando, Fla.

Dear Josh:

I showed Dr. Newell my affidavit on the
Everglades situation, which he ad, and I think
agreed with my statements.

The state at the p esent time has an ex-
perimental station at Belle Glade, at the head of
the Hillsboro Canal. Dr. Newell states that in
one of the January colds, I guess the night of
January 11, the temperate e at Belle Glade fell to
25, in spite of the fao that it is on the south-east
side of Lake Okeechobe He also stated that the
government experiment station on Sugar Cane, which
is located near Belle Glade, was also badly frost
damaged.

This goe to show that there are no
tropical, or semi- opical conditions bordering on
the shores of Lake Okeedhobee, either on the north,
east, south of wesp side.

Yours very truly,
