AIR REGISTER INDUSTRY
An application having been duly made pursuant to and in full
compliance wFith the provisions of Title I of the National Industriatl
Recovery Act, approved June 16, 1933, for approval of an amend-
ment to a Code of Fair Competit~ion for t~he WTarm Air Re~gister
Industry, and opportunity to be hleardl having been noticed to all
interested parties, andi the annexed report on said amendment., con-
taining findings wilth resp~et thereto, having been made and directed
to the President:
NOW, THEREFORE, on behalf of the President of the United
States, thle National Indu~strial Recovery Board, pursuant to author-
ity vested in it by Execut.ive Orders of the President, including
Executive Order No. 6859, dated Septemb~er 27, 19341, and otherwise;
does hereby incorporate, by reference, said annexsed report and does
find that said amendment and the Code as constituted after being
amended comply in all respects with the pertinent provisions and wril~l
promote the policy and purposes of said Title of said Act, and does
hereby order that satid amendment be and it is hereby approved, and
that the previous approval of said Code is hereby modified to include
an approval of said Code in its entirety as amended.

REPORT TO THE PRESIDENT

The Wfhite H~ouse.
Smr: This is a report on the amendment t~o the Code of Fair Com-
petition for the Warml Air Register Industry as submitted by the
Code Authority of said Industry. Notice of Opportunity to be
Heard wvas published September 10, 1934, in accordance with Article
VI, Section 11 of" said Clode, as approved June 28, 19341.
The amiendment, which includes additions to the definitions of
said Code, will tend to make same more complete.
FIN DINGS

The Deputy Administrator in his final report to us on said amend-
ment to said Code having found as herein set forth and on the basis
of all the proceedings in this matter:
We find that:
(a) The amendment to said C~ode and the Code as amended are
well designed to promote the policies and purpose of Title I of the
NJational Industrial Recovery Act, including h removal of obstruc-
tions to th~e free flow of interstate and foreign commerce which tend
to diminish the amount thereof, and will provide for the general
welfare by promoting the organization of Industry for the purpose
of cooperative. action among trade groups, by inducing and maintain-
ing united action of labor and management under adequate
governmental sanction and supervision, by eliminating unfair com-
petitive practices, by promoting the fullest possible utilization of
the present productive enpacity of industries, by avoiding undue re-
st~riction of production (except as may be temporarily required), by
increasing thle consumption of industrial and agricultural products
through increasing purchasing power, by reducing and relieving un-
emlploymlent, by Improving standards of labor, and by otherwise
rehabilitating indus tr y.
(b) The Code as amended complies in all respects with the perti-
nent provisions of said Title of said Act, including without limita-
tion Subsection (a) of Section 3, Subsection (a) of Section 7, and
Sub.section (b) of Section 10 thereof.
(c) The Code empowers the Code Authority to present the afore-
said amendment on behalf of the Industry as a whole.
(d) The amendment and the Code as amended are not designed to
and will not permit monopolies or monopolistic practices.
(e) The amendment and the Code as amended are not designed to
and will nlot eliminate or oppress small enterprises and will not oper-
ate to discriminate against them.








(f) Those engaged in other steps of thle economic process have not
been deprived of the right to be heard prior to approval of said
amendment.
For these reasons, this amendment has been approved by us.

AMENDMENT TO CODE OF FAIIR COMIPETITION FOR
THE WARMI AIR REGISTER INDUSTRY

PURPOSE

Pursuxant to A~rticle VI, Section 11 of the Code of Fair Competi-
tion for the Warm Air Regaiste~r Industry, duly approved by the
President on June 28, 1934, and further to effectuate t~he policies of
Title I of the N-ational Industrial Recovery Act., the following
amendments are established as a part of said Code of Fair Competi-
tion and shall be binding upon every member of the W~arm Air
Register Industry.
ARTICLE I I--DEFINPTIONS

Amend Section 1 by inserting after t~he words, "' furnace gratings,"
the words, register bodies," so that the revised Section will read
as followcps:
"L 1. The term L" W~rml Air Register Indlustr-y as used herein in-
cludes the manufacturing and selling by manufacturers of air regis-
ters, register faces,, cold-a ir faces, floor b~orders, adj usts.ble ventilators,
intakes, w~all frames, pipeless furnace gra tings, register bodies, manu-
factured of metal, for heating, cooling, ;orve~ntilating purposes, as
described in Appendix A, and such branches or sub-divisions thereof
as may, ft am time to time, b~e included under the provisions of this
Code."j

APPENDZx A-D-IEFINITIONS OF THE PRODUCTS OF THIE INDUSTRY
Amendl Amppndix A by adcding at the end a new Section to read
as follows:
"L Register body: A register body is the frame that attaches to the
bottom of body of a register face, in which frame are suspended
pivotal mlobile louvres which are opened and closed w\ith an opera-
tEive, device either vertical whleel, slide, glide or other movements, or
other manual opening and closing device, which register body when
attached to the face constitutes a complete register. This register
body as described may be e~th~er of steel, cast iron or other metal."
