I What is the VRA (Veterans Readjustment

It's part of the Federal Government's con-

The program consists of federal employment

2 What kinds of jobs are offered?

There are all kinds-clerical, technical,
labor, etc.-in many federal agencies, in pay
grades 1 ($4,326. per year) through 5 ($6,938.
per year).* VRA jobs are located in all parts of
the country.

3 What kinds of training?

The training follows a personalized plan de-
veloped by the veteran himself and by his em-
ploying agency, designed for the benefit of both.
It may consist of formal classes (advanced
or remedial**), of on-the-job training, or of a
combination of the two kinds.

1971.

lency diploma as part of his training under the VRA
program.

of current job vacancies in many agencies, as
well as specialists who can provide you with
career counselling.

In addition, many cities have U.S. Veterans
Assistance Centers (USVACs), established to
provide returning veterans with counselling and
assistance on a wide variety of matters. USVAC
personnel can aid you in finding suitable Fed-
eral employment.

NOTA IMPORTANT:

El program VRA no represent para el

calificado.

C6mo se informa Ud. de vacantes espe-

fin de que Ud. consiga un puesto federal que le
convenga.

S Is the VRA program the only Federal em-

No. For those veterans not eligible for the VRA
program, not interested in it, or seeking a
higher-graded Federal position, there are other
avenues to Civil Service employment. You may
apply for a job by means of the regular Civil
Service procedure-a competitive system of
examinations and ratings. Under the merit
system all veterans receive preference in the
form of additional points in the final rating.
Furthermore, there are certain Government jobs
reserved exclusively for veterans.

For more information, consult the Job Infor-
mation Center of your local Area Office of the
Civil Service Commission, or the local office
of USVAC:

por el,'o que deseen puestos federales de grado
mas alto, hay otras recursos. Ud puede solicitar
un puesto mediante el procedimiento regular del
