Dear Colleague:

This letter is addressed to all officers o 4-nstruction, research and
administration as listed in the University Catalog. As most of you know, at
the May 29 meeting of the General Assembly there was a unanimous vote to
proceed with the organization of the Faculty Club. At this meeting a temporary
Board of Directors was elected with instructions to proceed with plans for
opening the Club sometime this fall. We now have rather definite assurance
that Building J, Club Rendezvous, will be available somewhere around October 1.

The Board of Directors elected on May 29 has had an organization meeting
and the following officers have been elected

Harry M. Philpott Chairman
Thomas Larrick Vice Chairman
Nrank E. Maloney Secretary
J. David Anderson Treasurer

This organization meeting provided for a Constitutional and By-laws
Committee with Frank Maloney as Chairman, and a Membership Committee with
Dave Anderson as Chairman. It further instructed the Membership Committee to
prepare this letter to be sent out to all members of the General Assembly with
an application blank for membership and with a request for the $5.00 preliminary
membership fee which was voted by the General Assembly on May 29.

The Board of Directors recommends that for the first year the annual
dues be not over $12.00 a year, or about $7.00 in addition to the preliminary
payment of $5.00. The Board further recommends that voting privileges of the
first meeting of the Faculty Club be restricted to those who have paid the
initial fee of $5.00. Of course, all of the above recommendations will need
to be approved by the Faculty Club membership at its next meeting when the
constitution and by-laws will be submitted by the committee appointed for this
purpose. It is further recommended that charter members be not expected to
pay an initiation fee.

Will you please send your application blank filled out and a $5.00 check
to Treasurer J. David Anderson, 248 Building G (Faculty Office Building),
University of Florida. A receipt will be sent you to cover your check. Will
you please respond as promptly as convenient so that the Board of Directors
may know how to proceed with further steps in the organization and in taking
over Building J.
