AN ORDINANCE to amend the Towns and Villages Ordinance,
[ 1st October, 1915. ]
BE it enacted by the Governor, with the advice and consent
of the Legislative Council of Saint Lucia, as follows:-
1. This Ordinance may be cited as the Towns and Villages Short title.

and construed as one with the Towns and Villages Ordinance,
1887, hereinafter called the principal Ordinance.
2. The following sections shall be inserted after section
twenty-nine of the principal Ordinance and numbered respec-
tively thirty, thirty-one, thirty-two, thirty-three, thirty-four
30. It shall be lawful for the Governor in Council from
time to time to make Loans from the General Revenue
of the Colony to the several Towns and Villages men-
tioned in section two of this Ordinance for the purpose of
effecting such improvements as the Governor in Council
may deem advisable.
"31. Every such loan shall be paid to the credit of The
Towns and Villages Fund" for the use of the particular
Town or Village to which the loan has been made:
Provided that, until the approval of the Secretary of
State has been first obtained,
(a) no single loan to any Town or Village shall exceed
Two Hundred Pounds, and
(b) no loan or loans to any Town or Village shall
exceed in the aggregate Six Hundred Pounds.
"32. Every loan shall bear interest at a rate not exceeding
Six Pounds per centum per annum and the loan with
interest thereon shall be repaid, within such time and in
such instalments as the Governor in Council may decide
at the time of the making of the loan, from the Fund of
the particular Town or Village to which the loan was
33. Every such loan with interest accruing thereon shall
be a first charge on the Fund of the particular Town or
Village effecting the loan.
34. The Town Warden of every Town or Village to which
a loan has been made shall furnish detailed statements of
the expenditure of each loan at such times and in such
form as the Governor may direct and all such statements
shall be published in the Gazette.

35. All loans made under this Ordinance shall be paid by Monies payable by
the Treasurer under the Warrant of the Governor- to the Treasurer under
credit of the Funds of the several Towns and Villages to Warrant.
