Dear Sirs

I note is the Mimi Herald of July 13a a article captioned
"Preoarltngjt and R~g Are Goal" which artleT leads me to address
you in the belief that the emlomsres will iater- st you and may assist
yoan
The enolosurem areas Copy of letter from Mr. D.C. Wright,
U.S. Depe trent of Agriculture, and copy of letter Nfra Mr. John Stead
of BlnMy J &ith Co., exporters and importers, 41 last 42d St.,
rWeor k, w. T.

I am aware of all of the dl!'flculties of shipping green
vegetables froa Florida to Ealanc2 it goes without saying that mWs ob-
stoales will Uhve to be removed anc several new conditions rented.

There was a time whan altt vta not exported from Floridm.

Completion of the 1qM around Lake COeeohobee and the pro-
9tqjBg( of the upper Eerglad s fr iya rf low will probably oauis
the prodtaOtion of greaq egtables to be inoreasjre.ly, and this
larger prduation will seek arkests. whiah should In yart be abe awarets.

Presentation of the f ts about larger production in the
Evergladee may support yojr argent for ea ftad* for a preeo.o lant.
All of the factors support the argument for earI comapletion of State
\osLadj2 fran Southkay to Fort _Ludrdale.

Tihe ir. Stead whose letter ia copied and attached is oon-
nected with the refrigerating (preooollngS lant at Fort Pierce. I had
Srritten to him because Fort Pieroe already had a plant.

NMss fMary Pierpont Blair,
11 Parker St.,
'Tm tort :-.a w as ..

Iy dear iiss Blair

t have your letter of the 14th.iast.,with enclosures. I fear I
am cie-add1ressing this, since your Post hark is Cambridge. No
street, howeverap!earing on the letter,I would err,I fe: rin send-
ing it there,

sc. you will find copies of letters'going out now to T.J.Camp-
bellJ.A.i'stan and :,"L.Kays,

'7e should follow up harder that matter of deed. The sucgestion
I find in the correspondence that so deed was ever granted you,
/ should be gone intoif possible.

r., nostan,I have known some 24 years, though now see him rarely.
I think he was connected right along with the Palm Beach Farms Co.,
and he may be able to help us,

.4gnin,the Mr.Coryell" you mention. The name is rare;and there
is one in the City Hall in Ft.Lauderdale. He was there in 1930,when
I left there, and I think is still there, I do not have his initials,
but could get them by writing. Could he be the m&'n who sold you the
land? If so,I am confident he will d8 the fair thingif possible. I
have had a high opinion of him.

It is far too early ,a. yet,to get nervous over ta;-paying. The
season runs into thospring, and even then tneeearethlgB that can be
done.

Your letter enc. to me,dated 2---22--36,and addressed to Bryant
and Greenwood,Lake 7orth,Fla.,--is go.d. Did it bring no response?
I should be greatly surprised to receive so reply to mf letter to Mr,
Ro tan.

To all three men I wrote to-day,I enclosed the land slip I also
enclose to you.

You spoke of learning how muoh you hbive spent on this land. The
correspondence before me should show much of it;whether all,I do not
know. Some receipts may not have come to me. Anyway, that might be
computed after we learn the outcome of thiWa effort of to-day.

My dear a.rrya
Il the Christian Science iIonitore21st.iest.,p.4,eolo.,I have just read
a statement from our Comrade Thnmas re future activities of the Soeial-
ist party,
This is in line with vwhat you n;rote mpand interests as greatly.

Our party--certainly in my day--had a tinge of sectarianism that weak-
ened it vith many. Againmany thought of it as a foreign importati-n.
Of course, men like ynu .nd Comrade iThoas have done much to fre it from
these oriticismj'but there is a tendency to Bp-l&k f f.or-ign is-ruean

they arm tending toward S3cialimys-.iob is jukt uE w-,'l),iet they
soared .wpy.
hile we've beco strngD on lalIorywe were long very vieak on the farm is-
sue. ~vea yet,I suspect we i;ve little attebtian to the questi.- of money
and finance--one of our gr:at:sst issues. Father Coughlia ha3 been almost
a Voyee crying in the wilderness .t that iseua, my retirement frsm the
Kansas Agricultural Cellege was duilargelystt my writings 9n that Bubject.
Agailwe've been indifferent to the liquor question--eno of the worst,
possible phases of capitalism. This campaign saw a revivAl "f .hae temper-

If these progre -ive parties can be unified, they sheulc all profit great
ly by thecombination. Je should not weaken -n our fun:uamnntalsbut we may
recognize eome we have iverloeked.

Againthere are millii ns in tie 2 eld parties who take advanced views
na certain is ueobut aren't willing to leave,;nd join a small -arty that

in the Initiative,Referen'um and Recsll. 7e use it,occasionally,as in
amending constitutions and beading ourselvesibut we ehruld use these meas-
ures right Plo g. By so dvingwe mayat timesrell up a vote fir a great

Dr. Thomas E. Will
Belle Glade, Florida

Dear Dr. Wills

I would like very much to get an up-to-date
map of the County of Palm Beach, showing the sectional
lines, and if you oan send me one of these, I shall
appreciate the courtesy and will send you a remittance
to cover the expense.

Have also been reading about the new 1937
Florida map, issued by the Standard Oil Company of
Kentucky which is procurable at any of the Standard
Oil stations. If convenient, I would appreciate
your including a copy of this with the county map.

I hope you are enjoying the best of health
and take this opportunity to wish you a Merry Christmas
and a Happy New Year.

Ve ruly yours,

. lWandrey

Dr. Thomas E. Will
Belle Glade, Florida ........

pleased to get the sectional map. I notice a line across the .
lower Everglades showing the proposed route of the Florida- ?2
East Coast Railroad, which I take it is to run from Okeechobee .
to Miami. This proposed route runs through Township 46, ange .
36, Section 21, Palm Beach County, and it happens that one of . 4
my old Bryant and Greenwood tracts of ten acres is located iLn
this section

Do you happen to know if anything is being done to '^
build this line?.

Where is this Everglade Park that you mention?

I am enclosing my check to cover the cost of theo .. ..,...

TMr.,aul Rardin,
1Ianging Editor and
Representative,
Canal Point,Fla.

My dear Mr.Rardin:

I fear our great Road 26 is more seriously menaced at tgis time
than in many years.

You knowtheHoad Dept. meets to-day in Tallahassee. I should be there,
but my health is seriously impaired.

Instead,I have written both Gov.Cone and our Road Board Member,
Brooks ..Bateman.

In addition,we should have some publicity. I sent you a copy or the
letter I had sent triem yesterday. I sincerely.trust you may use it.

If,in addition,I may have a dozen copies to mail where they should
do goottnat may help.

Very truly yours,
