4 s I had a nice visit with her Sunday.

I think she is endowed with tact as.

Dear Sir:. "
AnD r n" g your letter dated the 29 th Ult. will say
t at I was glad to again hear from you, even if the letter
hsnt very ouch encouraging,-Towever I await further A.etails.

* I note what you say as regards to work for nothing
and I admit.,hat DQfteens were cheap last season anCTonly hope
that it may s,411 fgym ig,.-this season, as I hope they will.

Phe paeogt~on I need is this&f I began getting
Florida Dafhene..out as I said before, someone will eventually
find out where they come from and as you are the only one that
will have these daqheens out I wish to be assured that you will
not sell to others as long as I give -you thesame, and say if sa
someone should of=e'-ogu a cent or so more you to kindly let me
know how mu ._thex.y._fered you and the nale of who made offer
for "r anyone could afford to give you more Icould.do the same
and woud, as I said before I want you to make as much as you
can not forgetting me.

. . In spite of all the competition last season if your
dasheens was cut I could had got ab~ot vglye. t~ for them,
as it was yours would have no preference and it was toqJate
when I learned.atyou, for which I was sorry to see you lose so
^nh6

I can use your dasheens as they are but can get more
and sell more i they resembTe the Europeanpr duct, now Mr Will 1
how many.oan you get this season and wh L.bjdTe can you make to
make money, and wi1jLheyt.b j pe. you say that you are working
on another line that will throw dasheen in the shade, I am afraid

0hicago, Ill.
Oct. 12th, 1921.

Mr. Those. E. Will,
Ft. Lauderdale, Florida,

Mr. Those. E, Will,
Okeelanta, Florida.

Dear Friend:-

Your letter received. Mr. Getman and wife
will leave Chicago Friday night Oct. 14th, arriving
Palm Beach Sunday night, leaving for Okeelanta on Monday
A.V. boat.

It is not absolutely necessary of course
for you to be at Okeelanta, but thought you would no
doubt want to meet them, having had some dealings with
Mr. Getman.

I wMr# Getman is making this trip after much
talking on my part. The opinion he getn of the land, etc,
will have much to do with further sales of land to hip
and others, Would suggest if possible that you see him or
have instructions in some way, left at Okeelanta, so that
he can see you on the coast (possibly at Ft. Lauderdale or
Palm Beach) He will probably leave through the Ft.Lauderdale
gateway if the boats are running.

Hope to get my friend that I spoke of, which
I thought would pur chase immediately to make the trip this
winter. Would be very much please if something can be done
in connection with the dasheens as mentioned in your letter.
According to the Developer, great things are
being planed for the winter in and around Okeelanta. With
the sugar mill at Canal Point and one at Moore Haven, and
I also hear one is going up at Gladescrest, we ought to
be able to try out sugar oain very shortly.

With my best wishes,

Your truly,

S809 North Fairfield Avenue,
A

Dr. Those. E. Will,
Lauderdale, Fla.
Every statement ii- your letter of Sept. 30 is
.ore.ctt. except where marked 1 and S.
I know nothing of what Lawrence talked or planned,
or when, and give you credit for all you claim, except thav
/neither you or L had anything to do with my decision to come,
or with the organization of the party.
My mind was made up to come the first time I saw
the country, and had 1 never heard of 35 would have been
better off, as no doubt I would have settled on lake shore.

Here are the facts:- The winter of 1912, or possible
early in 1913, I got Kerr interested in going to the Glades.

i ,now it was winter, for we kept a record of truck
irius. He decided to go, and got Orockett, and later on
fuller. We walked over the tractor, Kerr wrote to the others
aniI wa,, to bvuy"t and the rest were to each pay one fourth,
(and whidh 1 never got)

Now I,,4o not have to tax my memory for nine years
back for the --tiowing fact, for I run across your letter to
me less than two years ago, in which you state you heard I
was gSing to the Glades, that L was thru school, and was
anxious to go, and would like to join my party.
I did visit you(2) and talked over matters, told
about tractor, and when you asked how L would come in in that
told you payment was all provided for, and he could have the
use of it without paying a part..
Just tax your memory on this one point, which will
prove the party was formed before L joined it.

'-,* "" h "7Affat'I objeoc to is in par. 2 and 3 of aX_ letter
of Sept 28, part of which I see in your booklet about first
se ttlemef .
I have told the story many times, then people see
your statement.%e and asa who is doing the lying.
h ie very arrangement of names in your" personnel"
with L at the head, shows you do not give me the credit for
leading the actual, physical settlement.

Take .the credit youa are entitled to, that you made
it poselble to start a community, that you talked it for
, years, that I bought lana from you, but I want the credit for
,forga.izing and le g g the first_party to your"definitely
paianned Upper Glades settlement"
t YOUcoan even take the credit of saying it was thrua
your efforts that yhe party located on your land, instead of
on the lake shore.as that does not matter to me. ,

Dear Dr.Will,
I am enclosing report of ten days teach-
ing and copy of letter sent to LTiss Ballerd-. -

This amount is only a minimuu of the re-
ality.

I have been over to South Bay a couple
of times this reek, helping Bro.Roth husk V
corn for a few hours.
Your corn is not getting husked very /
fb3t. George 7Wahington is not an expert.
In fact at the present price for corn it is
not worth the expense of husking and getting
it to market.
We hyve about forty bushels ribbed.
It has cost us sixty dollars to date, and we
are offered twenty dollars for it as it is.

We vil be at Gardena most of the time.
Our motor boat brings us in to Okeclainta
in two hours, so we wil be in nearly every
week.

William Cunninrham is 6oing to live in
Okeelanta,after klra and Irs.Little return
next month.
I see nothing missing from, your pluce
but the tanzanns.
Your house seems to be in about the
same condition. We will still keep the Roth
house with Mr. CunninehbIbm.
Mrs .Price and I are .anxious to have
some dentel work done but wil hav to wait
until"ship arrives."
I enjoyed the clippings .nd wil re-
turn stime to jou.
Best wishes to you Fraternally,

JOHN ARNOLD ROBINSON
FINANCIAL
1846- 16th Street N.W.
Wsshington,D.C.

October
Eighteen
1921.

Dr. Tho 11,
Ft.Lau,
Florid

Dear Sir;-

Your valued favor of the 13th inst to hand and
I thank you for the same.
I appreciate your expressions and trust that
ere long will see the settlement of your affairs
with these people up this way and that they are
settled to your entire satisfaction.
Mr.Mann and I are quite good friends if I amy say
so.He comes to my office almost every night and I
have the pleasure of driving him home in my oar.He
mentioned to me last night that he and the other
interested parties are to have a meeting next week
and at that time he is to present to them your last
proposal.

Mr.Mann and several other level headed men are- with
you and I am quite sure they will have a very strong
voice with the others in urging them all to accept
that which you offer. I personal will at all times
be pleased to do what little I may in your cause.
I do not anticipate being present at this meeting,
but will make it my business, after I hear from Mr.
Mann, the concenus of opinion, to see some of them
personally and at that time will use such influence
as I have with them towards effecting the RIGHT
settlement. I shall be guided almost entirly-by
what Mr.Mann and several of the others do and say.

I shall be pleased indeed to further communicate
with you and also to hear again from you.
My kindest regards to Mr.Bollinger when you again
see him,also same to yourself.
Most sincerely,

WEST PALM BEACH, FLA. BOX 1153

MIAMI, FLA. Oct 20, 1921

Mr. Thos E Will
Ft Lauderdale, Fla.

Dear L.r. Will:

Just received your letter of the 17th and in reply .

will say that I have consulted with fIr. Barwick anff liinig on

the road question. They tell me that the saw grass in the

vicinity of Sections 21, 23 26,27 and 33 are drained so that

any one can make a road, in fact a better road than we can make 2-
we_
of the spoil bank wereqto grade it down properly now.

Dr Price is moving down the berm of one of the ditches 2

which makes a better road than he ever had and he says he can

get along for the present.

As for section 27 which you are interested in will say

that since you are so willing, and not more so than the "Tri-

angle People", to help the cause with labor we will .give the

lumber to build temporary bridges across at arid E as you

suggest. 2wo men and your Fordson could haul the lumber there

and place the Bridge in a very short .time. That is what the

Triangle people did and they did far more than that. They con-

tributed thousands of dollars worth of work cutting right-of-

ways through elders and cluster anole. So you see when a cm-

munity gets out and does things they get results. It there was

a community north of where we are working now with the same

desires I guess we would be cu=:ing six_mile ditches instead of t~

three. '?e happen to be short of money right now and can not

do all we would like to but we felt as tho the settlers West of

Okeelants and north of the Bol&es Canal would be greatly bene-

fited if we cut the three mile ditches clear over to the Miami

Canal. Of course we can not do everything at ohce but in time

every body's hand will be drained within the Drainage District.

As for the "Old Okeelantans" I don't know what you refer to.
As for any ohe click favoring us o-er the other will say that

we pay good and plenty for al, that we get and that it is our /,/-

I money that is supporting the District. "We hire any one that wants /

work and our crews spend their money in the District.

You are of the opinion that we do not want to

, rakefLf the cones of our spoil banks west of the North New River

but you are mistaken. Maybe you are not rightly informed but

will say that we built a new .digging wheel on the Ditcher so as V

to give you people a more scientific ditch at a cost of $3,0p

and the loss of a monthbatime to the effect that there is now

no_.lace on which to hitchthat rake. 'Ve have thought of many sc

schemes to build a rake but Mr. Einig says they wont work so we

will have to cut.j tches withoi-UZjherake.

Hope these explahations will be satisfactory,

Yours respectfully

Secretary ,
