Dr. Thomas 1. \Till,
-Fort Lauderdale,
Florida.

Dear Doctor Jill:

Your letters of the 19th, 28th and 29th ult.,
at hand. Glad you like the paper. 'Ie have asked that ten
copies of the issue of Iay 31st be sent to you at Fort
Lsaderdale.

Frankly, I am not so sure that you have come
to the time when you can call people into as much of the
upper Glades country as you seem to think. Ly judgment is
that more ditches should be put in in a larger area, cutting
of the ditches to be followed by plowing. IQ observation
of the Okeelanta territory is that it is not sufficiently
well drained and that best use of money spent in clearing
and breaking land is not made until the half-mile ditches
have been put in. I do not expect you to agree with me
about this.

Is it a proper thing to ask non-resident
land owners in Palm Beach Drainage and Highway District
to write to the trustees and urge them to have ditching
machines put on the non-residents' land? I judge that the
trustees will have work done in those localities in which
owners desire it and promise development.

I do not know of anyone in West Palm Beach
who might put money into the proposition which you say you
have worked out. It is not through lack of interest that
J;est Palm Beach people do notput money into the Everglades.
Naturally and inevitably they put money into propositions /
nearer at hand and which they know more about.

routine with its eternal sameness and slow promotion. I am offering
Everglades lands to you because I B-LIEV3 IN IT, because I BELIEVE
that, while it is now selling at $50, $60, and $80 an acre in ten-
acre tracts on easy monthly payments, it will be but a short time
until it will be worth $500 an acre. The reputation of the great A
State of Florida and that State's great resources are behind the
drainage of the Everglades -- when drained they will be the GARDEN "
SPOT OF THE WORLD and famous the world over, and those fortunate
enough to buy now, while the price is, comparatively speaking, on
the ground floor, will, indeed, take pride in their foresight and
judgment. The national -- I might almost say international --
reputation of one of the greatest drainage engineers is behind this
great reclamation project. Please investigate it. Above ALL things
get some of it NOW and reap the benefit of near-future values. In
my opinion, you cannot invest your money to better advantage anywhere
else in the country.

If you cannot work the land yourself, we can show you how it
can be worked for you.

Make up a party, go down to the Everglades and see this won-
derful country for yourself. Excursions run out of Washington twice
a month. You will return glad you went, glad you bought.

Come to one of our stereoptioon lectures -- notice enclosed.
Make up a party aming your friends and spend a pleasant, highly
profitable evening as our guests. Come and see our soil exhibits,
tropical fruits and plants -- take a sample of our soil exhibit
away with you, have it analysed and prove to your own satisfaction
just what it is and will do. We show you this wonderful country with
the aid of magnificently colored slides, some of which were.made
from photographs taken by an employee in the Government Printing
Office. All these things will convince you that HERE is your op-
portunity -- the one you have been looking for.

Ladies are particularly welcome at our lectures. We can refer
them to one of their number in the Porest Service, who returned from
a visit to the Everglades enthusiastic over her purchase of twenty
acres. She is urging her friends to buy.

We can help you to pay for your land -- come and let us explain
how we 'can do this.

Don't throw this letter and literature into the waste paper
basket. Please read it carefully, then pass it along by so doing,
you will not only accommodate us, but your friends still more.

Come and see us at your lunch hour, or on your way home from
the office. We are centrally located, on the ground floor. Our
address is 809 G Street, N. W., -- Ouray Building, opposite the
Patent Office -- our 'phone number is Main 4260. We shall always be
glad to see you and explain things to you, whether you buy or not.

SInsurance CompanyJL_
Madison, Wisconsin

July 7, 1921.

M Ay dear Dr. Will:

The last report I had from you regarding the affairs of
Fruitcrest Association is dated December 6, 1919. At that time you
stated 400 acres had been paid for and that as soon as another 80
were paid for you would make a request from the state far title to
the lands so that the individual buyers could get their deeds.

I have written to you a number of times asking for a state-
ment of rruitcrest affairs and i wish you would write me regarding
the situation as it is.

1. How many acres are now paid for?
2. Have all taxes been paid to date?
3. Have any sales been made this year?
4. when can we reasonably expect to get our deedsv

I note the proposition is up for a bond issue to build a rock
road into the blades from west Palm beach. This will no doubt be
voted on favorably, and when this road is completed that section
surely ought to boom.

I wish you would do me the personal favor of writing me at
length regarding our proposition. I have just had a very unfortunate V
experience in my financial affairs and I want to make sure of where
i am at with regard to rruitcrest. The fact that we do not receive
our deeds is a source of constant worry to me, and I wish you would
write me on that point.

I feel our rruitcrest tracts will be valuable some day and I
have mentioned the propsotion to a number of my friends with a view of
interesting them to the extent of buying. If I had a financial
statement of the Association and a statement of what is being done down
there now i believe I might be able to dispose of a tract or two

Please let re hear from you at your earliest convenience.

Dear Sir:
I hereby acknowledge receipt of your favor dated June 28,and
also that of April 18 As you may see from the letterhead we are nowd
located in Bel-Air, id. Have been here over a year.
At the tire your first letter arrived I had troubles a plenty,fin-
ancial and otherwise, and was not in a position to invest in any venture
whatsoever. Kuch pleased to see that the Fruitorest taxes are paid and
that we nay look for a Deed in the near future. An excellent mrens of un-
loading the tax 'burden upon the nmerrership, where it rightly belongs.
As to the Masheer I know nothing, but am willing to learn and to
cooperate in establishing a demand. You may take my order for one sack 'o
150.lbs. for which I will send you the cash at time of delivery.
Hoping that the Lasheen will prove a success I remain,
Yours respectfully,

Chicago, Ill.
S. July, 12th,, 1921.
Mr. Thos. E. Will.
J aelanta, Florida.

.Dear Friend:-

Have waited patiently for your letter
4'j h you promised on my visit in reference to the
" 'eens, etc.
SWhat do you think is the best thing to
do vuer the circumstances, at this time? Do you
think the dasheen market will be any better this fall?
o We do not care to put any expense into the dasheens
at this time, but would possibly like to do some
further cropping if the dasheen is a lose, and could
be taken off in some way. May be possible for you to
-')_h them taken care of, weeded, etc, until this fall,

I't would not pay to harvest them unless there
Ss a.market. If this could be done however, and we
ioui'd dispose of them this fall, in time for the early
"market, possibly expense of putting them in, could be
cleaed, band it would also get them off the land.
-. s would put me in a better position
S on further seoo g of land. As to the land you have
; to offer.." It may be possible for me to sell that forty
acres on the Bollee Canal, but we will have to be more
asonable in price. Party interested my tereste make a trip
down. me is twll situated financially. Cannot handle.
same at more tha, 100.00 per acre, if sold.

Please let me haar from you on this and
also our dasheens, as soon as possible.

Yours trulv.
