Chicago, Ill.
July 7th, 1920.
Mr. Thos. E. Will,

Dear Friend:-

Your letter of the 88th, ult, received. Mr.
Perrin has returned and while he says the cane is a failure,
he says with rains the dasheens should make a good crop.
He says, that a very good job has been made of
the plowing. Am in hopes of developing a good maskgt in
Chicogo, if it is possible to do better than you can do at
Okeelanta. Sorry to hear about the cane but as 90% of the cane
in the Everglades is ruined, I suppose the fact that saw grass
coming back into the land, account excessive rains, without
proper drainage is mostly to blame.
The Cromwell's are pleased to hear, there is a
prospect of returns from dasheens, and speak very much about y
, additional_Daychasee. Mr. Getman of course is disappointed
She over the cane due to the fact that he has only two acres of
dasheens, to look forward to.

Have just had a letter from Mr. Marke,1, who was /
Rather interested in this land and it is a clear case of my
saying the word, and he will buy. A number of otherbuyers are
interested, but it is my intention to wtVW a little longer,
until returns are received, at least from the dasheens.

Expect to make a trp to Okeelanta about the
latter part of next month, or first part of September. Now
that the nine acres are a failure, we do not wish to let this
land lay idle. You are no doubt overtaxed with work and
shortage of help as per statements made in your letter, and
we do not wish you to let your own work and farming go in
preference to ours.

It is our intention of having this nine acres
cropped by an acquaintance of ours immediately, so as to get
a crop this year from the land and probably in the fall arrange
S again for further crore of dasheene eto, after harvest, when /
you probably will have more time, and will have overcome this
labor shortage.

Kindly advise if this is agreeable to you, by
return .mai 1.

Yours truly,

1809 North Fairfield Avenue.

Everglades lands to you because I BELIEVE IN IT, because I BELIETS
that, while it is now selling at $50, $60, and $80 an aore in ten-
acre tracts on easy monthly payments, it will be but a short time
until it will be worth $500 an acre. The reputation of the great
State of Florida and that State's great resources are behind the
drainage of the Everglades -- when drained they will be the GARDE
SPOT OF THE WORLD and famous the world over, and those fortunate
enough to buy now, while the price is, comparatively speaking, on
the ground floor, will, indeed, take pride in their foresight. and .
judgment. The national -- I might almost say international --
reputation of one of the greatest drainage engineers is behind this
great reclamation project. Please investigate it. Above.ALL things
get some of it NOW and reap the benefit of near-future values. In
my opinion, you cannot invest your.money to better advantage anywhere
else in the country.

If you cannot work the land yourself, we can show you how it
can be worked for you.

Make up a party, go down to the Everglades and see this won- -,
derful country tor yourself. Excursions run out of Washington twioe
a month. You will return glad you went, glad you bought.

Come to one if our stereoptioon leotares -- notice enclosed.
Make-up a party among your friends and spend a pleasant, highly
profitable evening as our guests. Come and see our soil exhibits,
tropical fruits and plants -- take a sample of our soil exhibit
away with you, have it analyzed and prove to your own satisfaction
just whaL it to and will do. We show you this wonderful country with
the aid of magnificently colored slides, some of which were made
from photographs taken by an employee in the Government Printing
Office. All these things will convince you that HERK is your op-
portunity -- the'one you have been looking for.

Ladies are particularly welcome at our lectures. We qan refer
them to one of their number in the Forest Service, who returned from
a visit to the Everglades enthusiastic over her purchase of twenty

We can help you to pay for your land -- oome and let us explain
how we can do this.

profitable evening as our'guests. Come and see our soil exhibits,

away with you, have it analysed and prove to your own satisfaction
just whaL it is and will do. We show you this wonderful country with
the aid of magnificently oolored slides, some of which were made
from photographs taken by an employee in the Government Printing
Office. All these things will oonvinoe you that HERE is your op-

Ladies are particularly welcome at our lectures. We oan refer

Mr. Thomas E. Will,
Okelante, Fla.

Dear Sir:-

Our New york office has turned over your
correspondence to this office, and we will endeavor
to give you all of the information that we possibly
can in regards to operating a theatre in your city.

As you have no electricity, it will be
necessary to buy a small Deloo Lighting outfit, and
as to whether you could rentor as to the cost of
purchasing one, I would advise you to get in touch
with the local Deloqoight dealer. You could either
use a Powers or Simplex machine, which would cost
you about $4y,uu. Films could be kept only the
number of days that you book them.

We will be glad at any time to furnish
you with the list of films from which you could se-
lect the ones you desire to exhibit.

Probably if you could get in touch with
some of the theatres near you, you would probably be
able to buy a second-hand machine at a reasonable price.
This I think would be better than buying a new one. If
at any other time we can be of any service to you, we
will be only too glad to answer any questions that you
may desire to know regarding the opening of a theatre,

With best wishes, we are

Very truly yours,

routine with its eternal sameness and slow promotion, I am offering
Everglades lands to you because I BELIEVE IN IT, because 1 BELIEVE
that, while it is now selling at $50, $60, and $80 an acre in ten-
aore tracts on easy monthly payments, it will be but a short time
until it will be worth $500 in acre. The reputation of the great
State of Florida and that State's great resources are behind the
drainage of the Everglades -- when drained they will be the GARDEN
SPOT OF THE WORLD an4 famous the world over, and those fortunate
enough to buy now, while the price is, comparatively speaking, on
the ground floor, will, indeed, take pride in their foresight and
judgment. The national -- I miaht almost say international --
reputation of one of the greatest drainage engineers is behind this
great reclamation project. Please investigate it. Above ALL things
get some of it NOV and reap the benefit of nearefuture values. In
my opinion, you cannot invest your money to better advantage anywhere
else in the country.

If you cannot work the land yourself, we can show you how it
can be worked for you.

Make up a party, go down to the Everglades and see this won-

My Dear Mr. fill;

I have just learned that Mr.Brace who was to
have visited Fruitcrest did not get any further than Miami. At :
Jacksonville he became very ill and was in the hospital there
for a few weeks. Be then got to Miami and took sick again, then
after recovery left for home. He expects to be down your way
this Fall -but not before.

Naturally neither of us desire to wait that
long before disposal of Lot 27. It is about as hard to dispose
of it as it was to amass enuf to pay for iti It has been good
experience for me inasmuch that hereafter, I affirm to all the
Gods, past, present and future never to buy land unless I first
see it and the location, environs, etc. -And pay CASB downI So
all this keen disappointment over the disposal of Lot 27 has,
after all, been of value. fe do learn our lessons slowly and
painfully, don't we?

I do hope you will make special effort to sell
it very shortly now.

May I bear from you? / / J
