routine with its eternal sameness and slow promotion. I a- offering
Everglades lands to you because I BELIEVE IN IT, because I BELIEVE
that, while it is now selling at $50, $60, and $80 an aore in ten-
acre tracts on easy monthly payments, it will be but a short time
until it will be worth $500 an acre. The reputation of the great
State of Florida and that State's great resources are behind the
drainage of the Everglades -- when drained they will be the GARDEN
SPOT OF THE WORLD and famous the world over, and those fortunate
enough to buy now, while the price is, comparatively speaking, on
the ground floor, will, indeed, take pride in their foresight and
judgment. The national -- I might almost say international --
reputation of one of the greatest drainage engineers is behind this
great reclamation project. Please investigate it. Above ALL things
get some of it NOW and reap the benefit of near-future values. In
my opinion, you cannot invest your money to better advantage anywhere
else in .the country.

If you cannot work the land yourself, we can show you how it
can be worked for you.

Make up a party, go down to the Everglades and see this won-
derful country for yourself. Excursions run out of Washington twice
a month. You will return glad you went, glad you bought.

Come to one of our stereopticon lectures -- notice enclosed.
Make up a party among your friends and spend a pleasant, highly
profitable evening as our guests. Come and see our soil exhibits,
tropical fruits and plants -- take a sample of our soil exhibit
away with you, have it analyzed and prove to your own satisfaction
just what it is and will do. We show you this wonderful country with
the aid of magnificently colored slides, some of which were made
from photographs taken by an employee in the Government Printing
Office. All these things will conv4coe you that HERE is your op-
portunity --" the one you have been looking for.

Ladies are particularly welcome at our lectures. We can refer
them to one of their number in the Forest Service, who returned from
a visit to the Everglades enthusiastic over her purchase of twenty
aores. She is urging her friends to buy.

We can help you to pay for your land -- come and let us explain
how we can do this.

Don't throw this letter and literature into the waste paper
basket. Please read it carefully, then pass it along by so doing,
you will not only accommodate us, but your friends still more.

Gone and see us at your lunch hour, or on your way home from
the office. We are centrally located, on the ground floor. Our
address is 809 G Street, N. I., -- Ouray Building, opposite the
Patent Office our 'phone number is Main 4260. We shall always be
glad to see you and explain things to you, whether you buy or not.

Mr. T.J Campbell,Tax Colleotor,
West Palm Beach, la.
My dear Sir;--
You ( or your hel ers) will remember that, when paying my tax'
es,recently,I pointed out that I should be tqead for 400 aores, rather
than for 320,only,in Section 27,T.44 Si,R.36 ;and for an additional
7 acres ( 6 b/3 + ,75 as,),in the So.1/2 of the So/ 1/2 of See 95,T.44 8.
R 36'3. I was advised to wait until the Internal Improvement Board had
communicated with you regardirgtheir Drainage tax payments.
Secr tary Lewis now writes me requesting that I pay such taxes',
and sae that all drainage taxes are paid on the lands under contract of
sate-to me,
I am sending you herewith 61edk for $13,06,being the drainage
taxes on the above 80+ 6 1/3+ 3/4 pares -,t 15 i per acreand hope you may be
able to apply it against the drainage taxes which, otherwise, would be charged
against the Internal Improvem atBoard. If you cannot do this, please send
it to ecy. J.S .. Lewis,or return it to methat may send him a check for
the same amount.* I do not want the Bo9rdto pay any tax that I should pay.
The day after I saw you,I sent to Assessor Owens a detailed stste-
meit of the uxxtxxtd landsthqt should be assessed against me next year,in-
cluding the above( barring the? 3/4 acres which belong to the School Board
qnd Town gall trustees, respectively.)

routine with its eternal sameness and slow promotion. I am offering
Everglades land. to you because I B!LIEVE IN IT, because I BELIEVE
that, while it is now selling at $50, $60, and $83 an aore in ten-
acre tracts on easy monthly payments, it will be but a short time
until it will be worth $500 an acre.
In
my opinion, you cannot invest your money to better advantage anywhere
else in the country.

If you cannot work the land yourself, we can show you how it
can be worked for you.

Make up a party, go down to the Everg'ades and see this won-
derful country for yourself. Excursions run out of Washington twice
a month. You will return glad you went, glad you bought.

Come to one if our steraoptioon lectures -- notice enclosed.
Make up a party among your friends and spend pleasant, highly,
profitable evening as our guests.
Office. All these things will convince you that HERE is your op-
portunity -- the one you have been looking for.

Ladies are particularly welcome at our lectures. We can refer
them to one of their number in the Forest Service, who returned from
a visit to the Everglades enthusiastic over her purchase of twenty
=orwa. She Is urging her friends to buy.

We can help you to pay for your land -- come and let us explain
how we oan do this.

Don't throw this letter and literature into the waste paper

you will not only accommodate us, but your friends still more.

TREASURY DEPARTMENT
SIXTH FEDERAL RESERVE DISTRICT
WAR LOAN ORGANIZATION
JOS. A. MCCORD, DIRECTOR
LIBERTY LOAN EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE WM. WARDLAW, AsoIAT. DIRECTOR
HAYNES MCFADDEN, CHAIRMAN
ATLANTA

April 9th, 1919.

Dear Dr. Will:

You have been chosen as a member of the great patriotic
army that will sell to the people the Victory Liberty Loan; and,
I enclose with this a certificate of your appointment.

.This appointment carries with it an honor, for only men
and women of proven patriotism and known devotion to the principles
of our form of Government are selected for this office. But it
also carries an obligation of service, and the acceptance of the
certificate will be rec'gnized as your agreement to co-operate
fully with the Ciiaie-man and the other members of the Liberty Loan
Committee in your county.

It is fully realized that to do this work will call for
the use of time in which you might be engaged in your own pursuits,
either of pleasure or business, so that it would mean an actual
loss to you on a commercial basis. But we feel, in view of the
great service that has been so generously rendered by the members
of our army in Europe, those of us who have remained at home, many
of us un-interrupted in cur own regular affairs, should be willing
to make this contribution to the great cause.

Therefore, relying with confidence upon your patriotic
desire to assist in the completion of the work to which so many of
our young men devoted their lives, we feel assured of your accept-
ance and whole-hearted co-operation.

"If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies blow
In Flanders Fields".

Yours to keep the faith,

47.! 4.^4

If you cannot work the land yourself, we can show you how it
can be worked for you.

Make up a party, go down to the Everglades and see thiae,wn-
d erful country for yourself. Excursions run out of Washington twice
a month.. You will.return glad you went, glad you bought.

Come to one if our stereopticon lectures -- notice enclosed.
Mate 'up'a party among your friends and spend a pleasant, highly
profitable evening as our guests. Come and see our soil exhibits,
1: tropical fruits and plants -- take a sample of our soil exhibit
away with you, have it analyzed and prove to your own satisfaction
just whaL it is and will do. We show you this wonderful country with
.. the aid of magnificently colored slides, some of which were made
from photographs taken by an employee in the Government Printing
Office. All these things will convince you that HERE is your op-
portunity -- the one you have been looking for.

Ladies are particularly welcome at our lectures. We can refer
them to one of their number in the Forest Service, who returned from
a visit to the Everglades enthusiastic over her purchase of twenty
acres. She is urging her friends to buy.

We oan help you to pay for your land -- come and let us explain
how we can do this.

Don't throw this letter and literature into the waste paper
basket. Please read it carefully, then pass it along by so doing,
you will not only accommodate us, but your friends still more.

Come and see us at your lunch hour, or on your way home from
the office. We are centrally located, on the ground floor. Our
address is 809 d Street, N. W., -- Ouray Building, opposite the
Patent Office -- our 'phone number is Main 4260. We shall always be
glaa to see you and explain things to you, whether you buy or not.

Dear Dr. Will:-.

I am very much interested

in ,our letter in response to mine, which

I think you did not fully understand.I

did not misconstrue our contract and I

think I wrote-you.that in reply to the

letter from "M. Dickenson", who turns

out to be a woman, Marie Dickenson,

I wrote her that the land was in your

hands for sale, so that if she has not

communicated with you, there is no rea-

son why you should not write to her.

I. did not suppose that you

* '-.culd sell to her, but inasmuch as she 1.

wanted to take my price, and was sc eager

to do so that she wirecd me, advising me

to attach sight draft with deed, my theory

was that you would send i.e my price for

a d-ed, leaving you to make whatever

profit (considerable, I judge) the-.e

might be for you now or later in the

deal. I do not ob-ect at all to

your making a prof it, but would be glad

to have you make a good one. I agree

t.-at you have stood by courageously

and you are entitled to win out.

My point simp y is t..at if you

buy und-er the contract, since I have

actually been offered my price, it will
let me out and not hurt you, since if

you buy me out later it will cost 0

you interest to date of purchase.

The only question is whether you -

pay me interest or somebody else. I

would prefer to get out.

I note that you say that you want

1to keep your tax receipts. But they

should come to me, since it is to me

that you are- oblig-ated t-o pay-the taxes.

I should have some documentary evidence

of cou-se that my taxes are kept paid.

You will not regard this as reflecting
on yourself, but as a plain matter

of business.
Since T have been offered my price

V cash in hand I think that you should
remit me tt rice, -either taking the
tit or let it go to the buyer
YXIrs very truly,

asore traots on easy monthly payments, it will be but a short time
until it will be worth $500 an acre. The reputation of the great
State of, Flor-da and that State's great resources are behind the
drainage of the Everglades -- when drained they will be the GARDEN
SPOT OF THE WORLD and famous the world over, and those fortunate
enough to buy now, while the price is, comparatively speaking, on
the ground floor, will, indeed, take pride in their foresight and
judgment. The national -- I might almost,say international -.
reputation of one of the greatest drainage enginqers is behind this
great reclamation project. Please investigate it.- Above ALL things
get some of it NOW and reap the benefit of near-future values. In
my opinion, you cannot invest your money to better advantage anywhere
else in the country.

If you cannott work the land yourself, we can show you how it
can be ,worked for you.

the aid of magnificently colored slides, dome of which were made

Office. All these things will convince you that HERE is your op-
portunity -- the one you have been looking for.
